Adebayor unsure of Tottenham future

13 May 2013 16:51

Emmanuel Adebayor does not know if he will still be a Tottenham player next season.

The Togo international has scored just five goals in 24 Premier League appearances for Spurs this season and speculation has grown that he could depart White Hart Lane.

But Adebayor insisted his focus is helping Tottenham challenge for a UEFA Champions League spot and not on his own personal future.

"Will I stay at Spurs? I don't know, I think a lot of people are writing me off, but at the moment I'm with Tottenham and I'll keep working hard," He said.

"I've had a tough season with the African Cup of Nations, injury and suspension - I've had everything this season. What I can right now is that I'm a Tottenham player."

The 29-year-old remains confident his side can claim fourth spot and is hoping Wigan build on their FA Cup heroics by defeating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

"We'll be cheering for Wigan, we hope they can beat Arsenal," he added.

"I was surprised by the way they played in the FA Cup final, although don't get me wrong, we know they have a good team with players like (Shaun) Maloney, (Arouna) Kone, (Callum) McManaman - they've got a lot of good players.

"They put enthusiasm and spirit into the game, they fought for every single ball and they deserved to beat City. Now they have two big games to save their season.

"If they find a way to save their season, it will be tremendous and now they have to go to Arsenal and do their job there.

"It will be tough for them, but I think now with the confidence, with the belief that they have just won the FA Cup, it's a good time for them to play Arsenal.

"Do we deserve to be in the Champions League? I think yes. But Everton would say the same, so let's keep going and see what happens at the weekend."
