Eriksen: I want to play for Dortmund

12 May 2013 22:30

Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has issued a come-and-get-me plea to German giants Borussia Dortmund.

Eriksen, 21, has played a key role in Ajax's title-winning season this campaign, scoring 10 goals from 32 appearances in midfield.

The Denmark international has been linked with a move to Dortmund for some time, and Ajax coach Frank de Boer recently stated that the player "would suit well in Germany".

Dortmund will be in the market for a creative midfielder to replace the outgoing Mario Goetze, who will join Bayern Munich in the close-season.

And the youngster has now paved the way for a move by stating that he would like to play for Juergen Klopp's side, before adding that Dortmund and Bayern's runs in the UEFA Champions League – the two sides will contest the final at Wembley on May 25 – this season had changed his mind on German football.

"That (Dortmund) is beautiful club that I would like to play for," Eriksen told NUsport.

"I guess I would be okay (at Dortmund). They play attacking, beautiful football, just as I like to do. And they compete for trophies.

"A few years ago I did not see Germany as an option, but the level has gone up there. It says a lot that two German clubs are in the Champions League final. It may well be that the Bundesliga is now the strongest league."
