Points all that matter for Hughton

10 May 2013 18:09

Norwich manager Chris Hughton has dismissed the suggestion there has been "turmoil" at the club this season.

His side are just three points clear of the relegation zone with two games left to play in the Premier League, but victory against West Brom on Sunday would all but secure safety for another season.

The club cancelled their end-of-season awards dinner scheduled for last Monday in order to fully focus on the task of securing survival.

"Turmoil is certainly the wrong word," said Hughton.

"We know we are playing in a very competitive division, there are clubs around us who are bigger than we are, with bigger budgets, and that is a reflection on how difficult this league is.

"It is certainly not turmoil, it is the ups and downs of the game. Is it a time of frustration? Yes, because we don't want to be in the position we are in.

"Is it an anxious time? Of course it is, but it is only us who can do something about it. We need to make sure that by the end of these two games that we have the required points."

Norwich are expected to hand a start to fit-again goalkeeper John Ruddy, and will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat to former manager Paul Lambert's Aston Villa last Saturday.
