Villa must forget Sunderland win, says Lambert

3 May 2013 21:04

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has called on his side not to forget about their impressive win against Sunderland on Monday.

Villa beat Paolo Di Canio's men 6-1 to boost their chances of beating the drop from the Premier League, but Lambert is keen to ensure his players look to keep their momentum going when they travel to Norwich this weekend.

Lambert's men leapfrogged Newcastle into 16th in the table after their win over Sunderland and the Scot is now looking to continue climbing the table.

"You always look at what's above you rather than what's below you," he said. "Everyone knows me by now. I don't get too high when we win or too low when we lose

"The players will be the same. We move on. When that whistle blows you enjoy the euphoria for a few hours until you wake up and then, as far as I am concerned, it's gone.

"It actually goes as soon as it's finished. I don't dwell on it. We have another three games to go. We go and try to win the next one.

"There are still lots to do. You take the plaudits when they are there. But I am never one for looking back on anything."

Lambert hailed his side's recent performances and challenged his side to play well once again when he makes his first return to Carrow Road, since leaving for Villa at the end of last season.

"We are playing well, that's the big thing. We have been going into games on form, which has made it easier," he said.

"We know we have a hard game at Norwich but we certainly know we are playing well enough. That's the big thing."
