Robben calls for response from Bayern

14 March 2013 13:59

Bayern Munich attacker Arjen Robben was disappointed by his team's 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League tie.

Jupp Heynckes' men had won the first leg 3-1 at Emirates Stadium in February, but they struggled in the return at home as Arsenal nearly turned things around.

Robben hopes Wednesday's narrow escape on the away goals rule will serve as a wake-up call for Bayern.

"It shouldn't be happening, but it happens," Robben told the club's website.

"We spoke about it in the dressing room and we were forewarned. They had nothing to lose and gave everything. We weren't aggressive enough, especially in the first half.

"But at the end of the day, maybe there's a positive aspect, a wake-up call of sorts. We've been praised from all sides, but look what can happen.

"We have to maintain our concentration, because it was a close run thing at the end. Overall, Arsenal deserved the win."

The draw for the quarter-finals takes place in Nyon on Friday.
