Belief the key for Arsenal

14 March 2013 13:49

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says his team would be able to perform like they did against Bayern Munich more often if they had more belief.

Arsene Wenger's men needed a third goal to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals after losing the first leg 3-1 at home, but were unable to add to efforts from Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny in a 2-0 win.

Bayern had conceded just 12 goals at home all season prior to Wednesday and Ramsey said Arsenal deserved credit for their performance against the runaway Bundesliga leaders.

"It was always going to be difficult from the first game," Ramsey told the club's website.

"We gave ourselves a tough job to do but we came here with no pressure and managed to put in a really good performance.

"We came close and at the end of the two legs, we drew 3-3. It's not an easy place to come and win 2-0, so we can take a lot of positives from the result. We're disappointed we're out of this competition.

"We have a lot of good quality players in the team and we showed that tonight. We just need a bit more belief. Consistency has been a factor over the season. When we do play well, we can give any team a run for their money and we did that tonight.

"We just have to go into every game focused and try and win every game that we play until the end of the season to try and get back into the Champions League."
