Ancelotti hails Menez, Gameiro
Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has praised Jeremy Menez and Kevin Gameiro after their performances in the 2-1 win over Nancy.
Benjamin Moukandjo silenced Parc des Princes as he handed the visitors a shock lead on Saturday, but an inspired brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic put the home side back in charge.
Ancelotti was quick to credit the win to his substitutes' contributions as PSG moved five points clear atop Ligue 1.
"The first period was similar to those (defeats) against Reims and Sochaux, as we had problems in terms of intensity and motivation," the 53-year-old told InfoSport.
"However, the second half reaction was good. Menez and Gameiro brought intensity. Menez was not ready to play 90 minutes, so I saved him for the second half.
"Gameiro was useful when he came on too, as he always is.
"We did not play good football in this game, but it was important to win. Now we have more time to prepare for our next game (against Saint-Etienne)."
Brazilian star Lucas Moura was forced off before the hour mark and Ancelotti is concerned about the injury.
"He must pass tests. Am I worried? Naturally," the Italian said.
"I hope he will recover soon, but I cannot say as I have not yet spoken to the doctor."
Ibrahimovic was delighted to play a part in his side's victory and said it was tough for PSG to produce their best form while they are playing so many games.
"Every game will be like a final for us. We don't want to lose, we always want to win but that is not easy," the Swedish star said.
"It is very difficult and we try to play well every game. Every three days we have a game and we try to do our best, sometimes we don't achieve what we want but that is normal.
"We are human beings like you guys and everyone makes mistakes."
David Beckham came off the bench for PSG, used in the final 16 minutes after replacing Marco Verratti.
The former England captain was pleased to see Ibrahimovic star and was glad PSG responded strongly after playing in the Champions League midweek.
"I am obviously happy for Zlatan because he keeps scoring the goals and we end up winning," Beckham said.
"It was a tough game today because we came into it after a tough game against Valencia. It was a difficult game but we are happy."
