Palermo chief reveals Cassano interest

26 June 2013 12:17

Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini has revealed that the club would have made a bid for Inter’s Antonio Cassano had they avoided relegation.

The Sicilian outfit will feature in the second tier of Italian football next term after finishing 18th in the 2012-13 Serie A.

But Zamparini insisted that he would have targeted Italy international striker Cassano if they had managed to stay up.

"Had we stayed in the top flight then I certainly would have called Cassano," he told Mediaset Premium.

"I would have tried to sign him because he is world class."

Cassano made just 11 appearances for Inter last term, scoring five goals.

The San Siro outfit slumped to a disappointing ninth-placed finish in their last campaign.
