Kinsella gets two-year ban for positive drug test

25 June 2013 13:45

Fleetwood Town midfielder Gerard Kinsella has been hit with a two-year ban after testing positive for nandrolone.

The 21-year-old's out-of-competition test in February showed traces of the banned anabolic steroid.

Kinsella admitted the Football Association charge and attended a Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

He may still appeal the suspension, which is set to run from the date that he gave his sample - February 5- therefore rendering him out of action until February 4, 2015.

Kinsella was yet to make his senior Fleetwood debut after signing for the club last summer.

He began his career in Everton's youth set-up and has also spent a loan spell with non-league Telford.
