Swansea working tirelessly, says Jenkins

21 June 2013 13:56

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has assured the club's supporters that they are working tirelessly to bring in new players.

Swansea, who won the League Cup and finished ninth in their maiden Premier League season last term, will need to strengthen with a UEFA Europa League campaign on the horizon.

Repeating their top-10 finish in the Premier League will not be easy either and the club's fans have been getting anxious over a lack of arrivals.

Swansea have signed Spanish midfielder Jose Canas but have failed to add to that, while other issues at the club appear to be affecting the players.

Midfielder Leon Britton admitted on Wednesday that the issues between Michael Laudrup's agent and the club is causing a "summer of disruption".

The Welsh outfit severed ties with Bayram Tutumlu after a falling out over the club's transfer policy, but Jenkins is confident it will not impact on their preparations.

"We are working day and night and there is a lot going on behind the scenes," he told the South Wales Evening Post.

"There are a lot of options and a lot of discussions have taken place.

"We have talked to many clubs, and in some cases we have put certain bids in for certain players. But some clubs prefer to wait to see what other offers come in.

"If you get as far as the dealing with the player or the agents, they are happy to sit and wait in some cases too.

"It's not just us finding that, it's the same for a lot of Premier League clubs."
