Uruguay look certain to book a spot in the Confederations Cup semi-finals with a big win against minnows Tahiti on Sunday.
Led by Diego Forlan, who was making his 100th international appearance, Uruguay secured an important 2-1 win over Nigeria on Thursday.
The win left them third in Group B, but leaders Spain are expected to claim a victory over second-placed Nigeria in their clash.
A Spain victory over Nigeria means a win of their own by any margin would be enough for Uruguay against Tahiti, who have suffered 6-1 and 10-0 defeats in their two matches.
But, in the unlikely circumstance Nigeria stun Spain, goal difference will decide who progresses, meaning Uruguay need to eye a big win.
Uruguay's star-studded attack should be excited by the opportunity of adding to their already impressive goal tallies.
Forlan and Luis Suarez are the country's top goalscorers, while Edinson Cavani has been in good form and should have scored against Nigeria.
With such prowess and a solid defence led by captain Diego Lugano, who netted against Nigeria, it is perhaps surprising to see Uruguay struggling in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.
They sit fifth and could face a play-off if it stays that way, but perhaps success at the Confederations Cup can provide them with a boost heading into the final stages of qualifying.
An easy win against Tahiti may not be the best preparation for a semi-final clash against either Brazil or Italy, who will go through from Group A.
The spirit shown by OFC Nations Cup winners Tahiti has won them plenty of fans at the tournament in Brazil.
Just scoring a goal – as they did against Nigeria in their opening group game – was cause for celebration for Tahiti.
Uruguay will dominate at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife and the goals should flow.
Cavani, Suarez and Forlan should enjoy getting on the end of chances and there should be plenty of them against a Tahiti side unable to cope with world-class outfits.
