Gundogan pledges future to Dortmund

17 June 2013 15:52

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has insisted he will resist offers from elsewhere in order to stay with the club.

The 22-year-old joined the Westfalenstadion outfit from Nuremberg in 2011, and has since established himself as a key part of Juergen Klopp's first team.

His outstanding performances during that period have reportedly put him on the radar of a number of other top European clubs, including Premier League side Arsenal.

However, the Germany international is keen to stay put.

"I am very, very grateful to this club and I know what I have here. The club has helped me to mature a lot and find my way into the national team," he told Kicker.

"As soon as I get back, I am going to talk with my family and my father will then sit down with (Dortmund's general manager Hans-Joachim) Watzke and (director of sport Michael) Zorc. I am definitely going to be playing for Dortmund next season."

Gundogan, who could have played for Turkey internationally via his parents, has represented Germany on seven occasions.

He made 45 appearances for Dortmund in 2012-13 as they finished second in the Bundesliga and suffered defeat in the UEFA Champions League final to Bayern Munich.
