CSKA to drive hard bargain for Honda

28 July 2013 16:29

CSKA Moscow need to receive an adequate bid from Milan for Keisuke Honda before he can leave, according to president Yevgeny Giner.

The Serie A club have been linked with a move for the Japan international but, according to Giner, there has not been a suitable offer made yet.

In his view, the 27-year-old Honda remains a key player for the Russian outfit.

"Honda can talk to other clubs about his future, but for the moment he cannot leave unless there is a suitable offer," he said.

"There are rumours of proposals that reach €1.5-2million, but this is not a solution that is useful for us. He is an important player for us."

Giner also hinted that it could be more lucrative for Honda if he was to stay with the Russian Premier League champions and earn himself a new deal.

"If he plays at his best, then he could earn himself a better contract," Giner added. "He might not necessarily end up at Milan at all."

CSKA will enter the UEFA Champions League in the group stage next season, having won the league by two points from Zenit St Petersburg.
