Arsenal wrapped up their tour of Asia in style as they won their last game 2-1 against Urawa Red Diamonds on Friday.
A late goal from 17-year-old Chuba Akpom stole the win for the Premier League side who completed their tour with a 100 per cent record.
Lukas Podolski had given Arsene Wenger’s side the lead after a goalless first half, but Yuki Abe equalised soon after before Akpom’s effort in the 82nd minute.
Wenger fielded a strong side for the encounter, including first-team regulars Mikel Arteta, Podolski and Olivier Giroud, while Jack Wilshere made his first start of the tour.
It paid off for him too, as the side completed another win to add to their 7-0, 7-1 and 3-1 victories over the Indonesia Dream Team, Vietnam and Nagoya Grampus respectively.
Arsenal were dominant in the opening period, but were unable to find a way through as Theo Walcott was denied by first the post and then keeper Norihiro Yamagishi and Olivier Giroud sent a chip just wide.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also hit the crossbar as Arsenal failed to turn their supremacy into goals.
However, Arsenal came out the better of the two sides following the break and were rewarded as Podolski fired home an effort from close range which was well set up by Walcott from inside the area.
Walcott was again denied when one-on-one, and was punished by 31-year-old Abe just before the hour mark as the former Leicester City man drilled an effort home after Arsenal failed to clear a corner.
But the victory was secured in the final 10 minutes as a mix-up between defence and goalkeeper for Urawa left Akpom the simple task of slotting into an unguarded net.
Wenger's side could not have had a better start to their season's preparations and will now fly home to stage the Emirates Cup, in which they will take on Napoli and Galatasaray.
