Redknapp rules out Cesar, Taarabt loan exits

16 July 2013 13:29

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out the possibility of allowing Julio Cesar and Adel Taarabt to leave Loftus Road on loan.

The London club's relegation from the Premier League in May has sparked speculation that Redknapp's most high-profile players will leave.

Experienced former Inter goalkeeper Cesar has been linked with Napoli and Arsenal, with midfielder Taarabt is reported to be a transfer target for Hull City.

Redknapp knows QPR face a battle to keep hold of the likes of Cesar and Taarabt, but insists the club's big earners are only likely to depart on permanent deals.

He told Sky Sports News: "I can't see the sense in loaning him (Cesar) for a year.

"He's got three years left on his contract, he's just played for Brazil in the Confederations Cup and been absolutely fantastic. I think he's a goalkeeper for any team in the world he's that good, so to loan him out for a year and then have him back is absolutely pointless.

"What's the point in loaning him for a year then getting him back on massive wages for another two years?

"If he wants to leave, we sell him. Napoli are not short of money, so if they want him surely they've got to come and do a deal.

"We have to do a deal that suits the football club and not deals that suit agents and other people."

Taarabt has made over 150 appearances for QPR during an initial loan spell from Tottenham and his subsequent permanent move across London in 2010.

Redknapp said: "There's talk about him (Taarabt) going to Hull on loan.

"What's the good in that? If he wants to go, let somebody come and pay the money for him."
