Gameiro interested in Spain switch

13 July 2013 17:15

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kevin Gameiro has admitted that a move to La Liga would appeal to him as speculation over his future continues.

Gameiro, who joined PSG from Lorient in 2011, has fallen down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes due to the arrival of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Sevilla are said to be interested in acquiring the 26-year-old, who spent much of last season on the bench as PSG cantered to the Ligue 1 title.

The France international revealed that he is considering a move away as he looks to further his international prospects ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

"There is talk about Sevilla. I have to decide whether it would be better for my career to go somewhere else and not be satisfied with my substitute position in Paris," he told L'Equipe.

"I want to play football and score goals. In one year there will be a World Cup, and that is a target for me."

Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Fenerbache are all reported to have enquired about Gameiro's availability, but he was quick to stress that Spain is his number one choice.

"I have opportunities almost everywhere, but I do have a preference for La Liga," he added.

Gameiro made 29 appearances for PSG last term, scoring nine goals.
