Preston confirm Davies capture

10 July 2013 13:54

Veteran striker Kevin Davies has signed for League One outfit Preston North End on a two-year deal.

The 36-year-old left Bolton at the end of last season after a 10-year stint at the club that saw him make over 400 appearances for them.

Davies, who scored 85 goals for Bolton, was in demand and "turned down a number of offers at a higher level" according to Preston, to sign for Simon Grayson's side.

A short statement on the club website also read: "Preston North End are delighted to confirm that Kevin Davies has signed a two-year deal with the club.

"He has been given the No.9 shirt and will be able to pull on a PNE shirt for the first time in the Shankly Shield fixture against Liverpool on Saturday 13th July, a 3pm kick-off."

Davies has represented England once in his career, coming on as a second-half substitute against Montenegro in a Euro2012 qualifier in 2010.
