Mancini in no rush to return to management

7 July 2013 10:43

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that he is happy with his time off following his departure from the club in May.

The 48-year-old Italian was shown the exit door at the Etihad Stadium after failing to retain the Premier League title in a campaign which also saw defeat in the FA Cup final to Wigan.

He has since been replaced by former Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini, but confirmed that he is no rush to find another role.

"I have time to come back to Italy, as I am still young," he told Sky Sports Italia.

"Staying abroad, or being put in charge of a national team, could also be a good experience.

"However, I'm happy with this time off. I've done this work for many years, and there is always so much pressure. Going forward relentlessly is not easy."

Mancini, who joined the Premier League following spells with three different clubs in Serie A, cultivated a lot of fans in Manchester as in his debut season he guided the club to UEFA Champions League football and the FA Cup.

The next was even better too, with the side winning their first league title in 44 years on the last day of the season and despite being confused by the decision to let him go, he is still happy with his time there.

"We did things well with a team that hadn't won for 50 years," he added.

"I brought in three trophies, so I am very happy with what I achieved there."
