Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will provide Borussia Dortmund with a depth of attacking options, according to sporting director Michael Zorc.
The Gabon international joined the Bundesliga runners-up for from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne on a five-year deal on Thursday.
And Zorc is confident the forward can continue to make progress in Germany.
"Pierre-Emerick will give us a lot of options in attack and can operate in different positions," he told the club's official website.
"He can play on both wings, even up front.
"He's made fantastic progress in the last two years, racked up a lot of goals and assists in the French league and for Gabon's national team.
"He signed a five-year contract. Our fans will enjoy him."
The 24-year-old scored 19 times in Ligue 1 last season but Zorc believes Aubameyang can offer more than just goals to last season's UEFA Champions League finalists.
"To be a threat in front of goal is important, but not the only criteria for an attacking player," he continued.
"He's fast, tall and strong. He will give us more options and flexibility in attack."
Zorc went on to say that while Aubemeyang is unlikely to be Dortmund's only high-profile acquisition of the close-season, the club will not spend outside their means as they attempt to compete with German and European champions Bayern Munich.
It is thought the Westfalenstadion outfit are close to securing a deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk's highly-coveted Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but the sporting director admitted such major deals take more time to complete than cheaper transfers.
"We are not going to do any crazy things. We are only going to do things that we are entirely convinced of. This is our policy. We are now browsing more expensive shelves though, so it takes a few talks more than normal every now and then," Zorc stated.
Meanwhile, Dortmund head coach Juergen Klopp believes his players must be more clinical against the so-called lesser teams in the Bundesliga if they are going to regain the domestic crown - which they won in 2011 and 2012 - from Bayern.
"We want to learn from the mistakes we made last year. This is our most important aim. We conceded far too many goals, we were 25 points down to Bayern - even though we didn't lose against them in the league. So we lost 25 points against all the other teams and I remember countless lost points that were absolutely unnecessary," he said.
