Negredo set for Sevilla stay

3 July 2013 23:11

Alvaro Negredo looks set to remain with cash-strapped Sevilla after the club's chairman Jose Maria del Nido rejected Atletico Madrid's bid.

The Andalusian club have estimated debts of €50 million and have already sold star winger Jesus Navas to Manchester City for a fee upwards of €20m.

But Negredo, who scored 25 La Liga goals last term, may not be set for the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan exit door after Del Nido revealed they had rejected a bid from Diego Simeone's side.

Atletico are on the hunt for a star striker after Radamel Falcao's departure to Monaco, but will have to up their bid to land Negredo.

Del Nido said: "I see Atletico’s chances of getting Negredo as very difficult.

"In fact, as of today (Wednesday), they have a zero percent chance. We have had no contact with them for the last 10 days."

Negredo has also been linked with a move that would see him follow former colleague Navas to City and Del Nido confirmed that he has also rebuffed bids from several clubs for his prized player.

He added: "There have already been major offers from various other teams that I have rejected."
