Tevez banned from driving

Manchester City's Carlos Tevez has received a six-month driving ban for failing to respond to letters warning him he had been clocked speeding.

The Argentine was banned after Manchester Magistrates' Court heard he had failed to understand the word 'constabulary' on official letters from the police.

In addition to the ban, Tevez received fines and costs of 1850 euros, though the 28-year-old did not attend the hearing in person and denied driving his car when it was caught speeding.

This is not the first time Tevez has courted controversy, after leaving England midway through last season to spend six months in his native Argentina following a public row with boss Roberto Mancini.

The forward has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for Manchester City this season.
