United leading Zaha race, Lampard in limbo

10 January 2013 20:53

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on highly rated Crystal Palace's youngster Wilfried Zaha.

The 20-year-old has long been linked with a move to the top flight, and Alex Ferguson is believed to be leading the race to prise him from Championship outfit Palace.

Several English Premier League teams are on alert after Wesley Sneijder reportedly called for his representatives to engineer a move to England.

The unsettled Inter Milan midfielder is on the brink of joining Galatasaray but is said to be happy to make a U-turn if a deal with an English team can be reached.

Frank Lampard meanwhile knows expects to be shown the door at Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The midfielder has been connected with a number of teams, including Manchester United, after being told his contract will not extended beyond the 2012/13 campaign.

The latest development has seen veteran Andre Pirlo suggest Lampard should join him at Juventus, but did say Chelsea are "mad" to let him go at all.

Everton are hoping that Sylvain Distin commits his future to the club after offering him a new deal, amid reported interest from West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland.

Harry Redknapp's latest transfer target seems to have fallen through, after West Bromwich Albion rejected a move for Jonas Olsson.

Tottenham Hotspur's bid to sign Leandro Damiao has also hit a stumbling block, with the Brazilian likely to stay with Internacional for the time being.

Finally, Theo Walcott is set to sign a new deal at Arsenal, which would keep him at the Emirates for the next four-and-a-half years.
