Referee bashed in Chile

Just weeks after a referee was murdered in the Netherlands, two officials have been attacked by violent fans in Chile.

Video scenes from an amateur final - played between Chilean sides Baquedano and Pablo Lizama - has emerged and the pictures are not pretty.

The amateur footage clearly shows fans, who were enraged with a decision to call the game off after several pitch invasions, again running onto the pitch.

The referee of the match was quickly surrounded and was felled with a flying kick to the face before being repeatedly kicked while on the ground.

The assistant referee was also badly beaten and although the players tried to intervene to stop the disgraceful treatment dished out by the fans, they were outnumbered.
