Kashiwa clinch Emperor´s Cup title

Kashiwa Reysol have qualified for the AFC Champions League after winning the Emperor's Cup final on New Year's Day.

Kashiwa earned their spot in Asian club football's premier tournament with a 1-0 win over fellow J.League club Gamba Osaka.

Despite failing to retain their Japanese title earlier in the season, a goal from Hirofumi Watanabe proved enough for Kashiwa to secure the trophy.

It has been a miserable year for Gamba, with the 2008 ACL champions relegated to Japan's second tier.

Kashiwa complete Group H in the continental event, joining A-League side Central Coast Mariners, Chinese Super League side Guizhou Renhe and K-League outfit Suwon Bluewings.

Kashiwa will begin their Asian campaign on February 27 with a visit to Guizhou Renhe.
