Laudrup relishing Wembley final

21 February 2013 20:47

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup says his side welcome the challenge of being favourites for Sunday's League Cup final against Bradford City.

Although their opponents are from the fourth tier of English football, Laudrup is in no doubt that Phil Parkinson's side will be difficult to overcome.

"First of all it's a final, finals are unpredictable," Laudrup said.

"We have to accept that we are the favourites for the simple reason that we play in the Premier League and Bradford play in League Two. That's good for me and everybody.

We have seen what they have done to Wigan, to Arsenal and especially Aston Villa. I say especially Aston Villa because it was two-legs, over 180 minutes and it's just fantastic."

Laudrup, who has won the Danish Cup twice with Brondby as a manager and also led Getafe to a Copa del Rey final, said a win would be huge for him as a manager.

"I've been in three different finals. Two in Denmark, one with Getafe in Spain," Laudrup said.

"I won the two in Denmark but that was different, that was with a top team, one of the top two. I lost with Getafe so I say it will be huge for me as a manger."

The 48-year-old feels his players must enjoy the occasion at Wembley.

"I'm very proud, it's their first final at Wembley. It's huge. It will be a great day for everybody in this town. So lets hope it ends as well as it started," he said.

"It will not always be like this. So you just have to enjoy it, I want to say to the players before Sunday and going out on the pitch, enjoy it because, I don't hope it's the case, but for some of you it may be the first and the last time you go out there. So enjoy it."
