Lloris relishing Lyon meeting

18 February 2013 16:03

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris says his side's Europa League last-32 clash with Lyon is a fixture worthy of the Champions League.

Spurs travel to France on Thursday evening for the second leg of the tie, holding a 2-1 aggregate lead thanks to Gareth Bale's double at White Hart Lane last week.

And the Frenchman described the upcoming encounter against the Stade Gerland outfit as a 'good test' for the north London club.

"It could almost be a Champions League game between two top sides in Europe," Lloris said.

"For us, it's a good test to play against a good team."

The France international also insisted that, while he still holds his former club in high regard, he is focused fully on Tottenham progressing.

"I have a lot of friends who are still at Lyon," he added. "On the pitch there are no friends.

"We will all give our best to try to pick up the victory."
