Anderson frustrated by United rotations

18 February 2013 14:22

Manchester United midfielder Anderson has admitted that the club's rotation policy can negatively affect a player's performance.

The Brazilian midfielder has made just four starts in the Premier League this season, and managed just six minutes against Real Madrid in the Champions League last week.

But with United chasing silverware on three fronts he is expected to face Reading in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday.

Ahead of the game, the 24-year-old said producing consistent displays is tough when a player is unable to get a run in the first team.

"It can be hard for a player if you don’t play for, say, two weeks because when you do get your chance you have to be ready to put in your best performance, " he told United Review.

"If you haven't played it can be difficult to do that. It's good for all the players to be involved in big games and tonight's (Monday) match is another important one. We know we have a good opportunity to win the Cup this season and we will all do our best to try and do that."

The last time United faced Reading, Brian McDermott's men showed their resilience in a seven-goal thriller.

And Anderson has highlighted the 'crazy' December encounter as proof the relegation-threatened side will not be the easy task most have predicted Monday's encounter to be.

"People say 'Oh, United have an easy game', but there are no easy matches. Everyone has to do their job and play well if we are to get through," he said.

"Every team that comes to Old Trafford plays like it's their last game - that's how important a match at Old Trafford against United is to other teams. That makes it hard for us, but we know we have the quality to beat any team."
