Klopp tips Frankfurt to maintain form

14 February 2013 19:55

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is not expecting Bundesliga surprise package Eintracht Frankfurt to fall away any time soon.

Dortmund host Frankfurt on Saturday, and Klopp believes his team will face a tough challenge from an opponent unexpectedly sitting fourth in their first season back in the top flight.

"Frankfurt's game works very well. They are physically strong and play strongly," Klopp said.

"They've got (Pirmin) Schwegler and (Sebastian) Rode in midfield, and Alex Meier in the best form of his career, and they've got (striker, Srdjan) Lakic as well. The central defence is good and the wingbacks are strong.

"They are simply a good team. I know there are many people who think this team will collapse at some time, but I don't see that. They're very steady and so will be very difficult for us."

Dortmund are looking to put last weekend's 4-1 battering at home to Hamburg behind them, but will have to recover from a draining midweek trip to the Ukraine.

Klopp admitted he would only have one light training session with his side before the game at Signal Iduna Park, following Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw at Shakhtar Donetsk.

"For us it is not that important who we play against or how we play. Now we, and especially the players, have to take their time to regenerate," he said.

"We do have one last training session before the match, but not much will happen there. In the evening we do have a meeting where we prepare the team for Eintracht Frankfurt. At that point it starts for us.

"It is just important how we go into the match. We are able to be and want to be an unpleasant opponent - at home as well as away. At the moment I assume that we will be."
