America and Leon continued their impressive starts to the Liga MX season with wins at the weekend.
Due to commitments in the CONCACAF Champions League, America have played just five games this season, the fewest in the competition.
But they still top the table courtesy of four wins and one draw, with their latest triumph coming in a 3-1 home success against Morelia on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Raul Jimenez handed America the lead after 48 minutes, an advantage that was doubled shortly after the hour-mark.
Luis Mendoza's 62nd-minute strike looked to have America cruising but they were stung in to action six minutes later.
Morelia substitute Edgar Andrade was responsible for that, with his goal setting up a tense finish.
America held on for all three points, though, with Mendoza's second, nine minutes from time, sealing the result.
Leon also posted a 3-1 success, toppling Monterrey thanks to two late goals on Sunday.
Chilean Humberto Suazo fired Monterrey into the lead after just 23 minutes and it was one they held until the half-time break.
Argentinean Mauro Boselli levelled matters from the penalty spot in the 55th minute before a red card to Monterrey striker Omar Arellano swung the match in Leon's favour.
Boselli grabbed his second with just 10 minutes left and Colombian Franco Arizala netted the third moments later.
Other results on the weekend saw the fourth-placed Cruz Azul defeat Puebla 2-1 thanks to goals in the last 15 minutes from Mariano Pavone and Joao Rojas on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, Toluca made it three wins in a row in all competitions with a 3-1 home triumph over Veracruz, while strugglers Atlante picked up their second point of the season after drawing 1-1 with Pachuca.
Pumas UNAM claimed a 1-1 draw at Atlas and Tigres UANL played out a 2-2 draw with Chiapas.
In Saturday's other games, Queretaro defeated Guadalajara 2-0 and Tijuana and Santos Laguna were locked level at 1-1.
