Del Bosque has no plans to drop Casillas

21 August 2013 18:56

Vicente del Bosque has assured captain Iker Casillas he will remain in the Spain squad even if he does not play regularly for Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old lost his first-team spot to Diego Lopez last season, after a widely reported fall out with former manager Jose Mourinho.

And new incumbent Carlo Ancelotti opted to stick with the former Villarreal keeper in Real's opening league fixture with Real Betis on Sunday.

But Del Bosque says he has no plans to alter his goalkeeping department ahead of Spain's FIFA World Cup qualifier with Finland on September 6.

"We are happy with the three goalkeepers, even if they go 10 games not playing," he told Cadena Cope.

"Real Madrid's next match is August 26 in Granada and we put together the list for the Finland game on August 30. I do not think we will make any changes in goal.

"We have to evaluate the situation at each moment. Iker is unique and a special man in the world of Spanish football.

"It is a very professional situation, between the club and the player."
