Faria hails Chelsea after Roma win

11 August 2013 11:43

Chelsea assistant coach Rui Faria hailed his side after their 2-1 win over Roma ended their pre-season US tour on a high.

The Londoners came from behind in Washington against the Serie A outfit as goals from Frank Lampard and Romelu Lukaku cancelled out Erik Lamela's effort.

The result gave Chelsea six wins out of seven from their warm-up fixtures, as they concluded their preparations ahead of the Premier League opener against Hull on August 18.

And Faria believes they are in good shape heading into the new season.

"The match was against a good, organised team, and a team that wanted a result, so it was a very good game for us," the Portuguese told the club's official website.

"In the end, winning is not the most important thing in these matches but it's always good to win because of the identity and personality we want to create in the team.

"The most important thing was the way we secured the result."
