Chinese Super League Wrap: Shandong move up to second

28 April 2013 19:46

A point against Hangzhou Greentown was enough to take Shandong Luneng into second place in the Chinese Super League.

Two goals within the first 16 minutes from Di Gao gave Hangzhou the lead before Ryan MacGowan pulled one back.

Song Wang soon restored the two-goal cushion but a Peng Han double was enough to put Shandong ahead of Qingdao Jonoon in the standings.

Qingdao could only draw with Liaoning Hongyun in their weekend fixture, as an Edu penalty was cancelled out by Bruno Meneghel.

Meanwhile, leaders Guangzhou Evergrande came out on top against city rivals R&F to post a 2-0 win and maintain their place at the top of the table thanks to goals from Elkeson.

Beijing Guoan dropped out of the top three after a surprise 3-0 defeat to Dalian Aerbin, who moved up to sixth as Zheng Lang, Fabio Rochemback and Seydou Keita got on the scoresheet.

At the foot of the league, Tianjin Teda remain bottom despite a 3-2 win over Wuhan Zall. Garra Dembele had given Wuhal the lead but a three-goal blitz, including one from Carmelo Valencia and two from Erik Paartalu, ensured Tianin celebrated their first win of the season.

Changchun Yatai remain one place outside the relegation spots following their 0-0 draw with Jiangsu Sainty, who drop to 12th.

In the Shanghai derby, Shenhua had to come from a goal behind to secure all three points after a Weifeng Li penalty put East Asia ahead on 40 minutes.

In the end, goals from Yu Liang and Gio Moreno in the 71st and 87th minutes respectively were enough to clinch the win, with their cause helped by the dismissal of Wu Lei on 76 minutes.
