Heynckes shrugs off Real Madrid rumours

26 April 2013 20:45

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has rejected reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid next season.

Heynckes will leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the

campaign to be replaced by Pep Guardiola and, although the 67-year-old knows

where his future lies, he stressed he would not reveal his next destination

until his contract has expired.

He said: "I won't tell you what I will do after June

30. I look at that in a relaxed manner. I know what I will do and I've known it

for some time. I never had an agent and the rumours from Spain is only what the

media are writing."

Heynckes now feels that Bayern are among the European

elite, following their 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League

on Tuesday.

"It was a spectacular week in football. You can see

how much the Bundesliga has caught up and that we are on the same level as

Europe's elite," he added.

"We enjoy our success with calmness and discipline.

There is no room for arrogance with us. We always have to get our machine working

from scratch."

Bayern face Freiburg on Saturday knowing that a point will

see them break the Bundesliga points record and, while Heynckes revealed that

top scorer Mario Mandzukic is set to return, he was keen to shift the focus and

praised Freiburg manager Christian Streich, whose side sit fifth in the table

after an impressive campaign.

"Yesterday we had a day off and today it is hot.

Muller is doubtful, but Mandzukic will be in the starting XI," Heynckes

continued.

"I want to praise Christian Streich and his

performances as a coach. This style of play with those limited opportunities is

fantastic."
