Schurrle told to make his mind up

23 April 2013 16:35

Andre Schurrle has been told to make a decision regarding his future by Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser.

The German midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea,

with the club's director of sport Rudi Voller reportedly meeting for talks with the

European champions last week.

No deal has been agreed as yet however, and Holzhauser is

keen for Schurrle to make up his mind in order to allow the BayArena outfit to

make contingency plans.

He told German news agency SID:

"Last year, we had an enquiry, but it came very late. This time, it is

still relatively early, which is good.

"Andre is, alongside Mario Gotze, one of the best young

players in Germany and if he leaves us, we will want cover for him. We want clarity

as soon as possible."

However, although Holzhauser is pleased to have received an

enquiry at what it is quite an early juncture, he stressed that the bid they

have received is some way off the meeting the club's expectations.

"We are still quite a

long way apart in terms of certain details," he said.

"There are always two options:

either Andre stays here or he leaves."
