Moratti keeping faith with Stramaccioni at Inter

22 April 2013 14:48

Inter owner Massimo Moratti has confirmed Andrea Stramaccioni will continue in his role as head coach next season despite a disappointing 2012-13 campaign.

The San Siro outfit are facing a battle to hold onto fifth place in Serie A with Udinese, Roma and Lazio all fighting them for the final UEFA Europa League qualification spot.

But Moratti's faith in his head coach remains firm.

"The project will start again with Stramaccioni," Moratti told Sky Sport Italia. "You always ask me whether he'll stay and I always tell you yes.

"It is not easy to plan for the future if your computer has a virus, when you have had as many players injured as we have, but we are thinking about next season and doing that well."

Stramaccioni, 37, was promoted to head coach after guiding the club’s Under-18 side to victory in the NextGen Series last year.

However, he has seen his side lagging behind in the league as well as being knocked out of the UEFA Europa League by Tottenham at the last-16 stage and losing a Coppa Italia semi-final to Roma.

"People look for someone to blame and, right now, they are looking at him," Moratti continued.

"Opinions need to be respected, but sometimes you don't fully understand the situation from the outside and that's why certain judgements are made."
