Terry snubs Bernstein handshake

19 April 2013 18:28

John Terry has snubbed a handshake with Football Association chairman David Bernstein at the UEFA Champions League trophy handover.

Bernstein stripped Terry of the England captaincy after

the Chelsea defender was charged with using racially abusive language against Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Terry confirmed that he rejected Bernstein's attempt to shake his hand and conceded he found it hard to converse with the head of

English football's governing body.

Asked if shook hands with Bernstein, Terry replied: "No. It's a difficult one for me - he went and spoke about me in the court

case."

However, Bernstein, who will step down from his role in July, insisted he was not aware of Terry's decision, and did not express any

desire to improve his relationship with the 32-year-old.

He said: "I didn't notice anything. My relationships with everyone here are really fantastic and I think we should talk about more

positive things than that sort of nonsense.

"I'm not really terribly concerned. I have other

things to think about. In my last three months, I have other priorities."
