Ligue 1 wrap: Marseille continue perfect start
Marseille's perfect start to the new Ligue 1 season has continued on Sunday after they beat AS Nancy Lorraine 1-0 at the Stade Marcel Picot.
A 53rd-minute goal from Jordan Ayew proved the match winner as Marseille made it five wins from as many starts to maintain their hold on top spot on the table.
Ayew headed a cross from brother Andre Ayew from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner, leaving Nancy goalkeeper Guy N'Dy with little chance of keeping it out of the net.
Lyon kept themselves in touching distance of the league leaders with a 2-0 win over AC Ajaccio at Stade de Gerland.
Goals from Dejan Lovren and Lisandro Lopez either side of half-time sealed the deal for Lyon who remain in second spot, just two points behind Lyon.
Lovren opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he headed in from close range following a lovely cross from Clement Grenier.
And Lopez made sure of the points half an hour into the second half when he accepted a through ball from Steed Malbranque before sending the ball to the bottom left corner.
Meanwhile, Lorient jumped into the top three following their 2-1 victory over Stade Rennes at Stade dele Route-de-Lorient.
An Alain Traore first-half brace put Lorient two goals to the good at the main break and while Jonathan Pitroipa pulled one back for Stade Rennes in the 71st minute, the visitors held on to secure all three points and move two points clear of fourth-placed Paris Saint-Germain.
