Hoeness: Bayern owe Osasuna nothing

11 September 2012 15:08

Uli Hoeness says Bayern Munich do not owe Osasuna any money in the wake of Javi Martinez's transfer from Athletic Bilbao.

Reports from Spain suggested Osasuna were claiming a sum of 800,000 euros from Bayern as compensation for training the holding midfielder as a youngster.

But according to Bayern president Hoeness, the club have no intention of paying Osasuna, claiming Athletic are responsible for fulfilling the requirement.

"Osasuna are entitled to a certain fee according to FIFA regulations because Martinez came through the ranks of their youth academy," Hoeness told Suddeutschen Zeitung.

"However, Bilbao are the team that's supposed to pay them the money. Bayern have nothing to do with this situation."

The 24-year-old Martinez left Osasuna for Bilbao in 2006.
