Yanga-Mbiwa keen to keep learning

9 September 2012 15:58

France defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has vowed to keep improving after impressing in his team's 1-0 win over Finland on Friday.

Playing alongside Mamadou Sakho at the heart of France's defence, Yanga-Mbiwa was outstanding, although he remained modest after the World Cup qualifier, refusing to talk about his performance.

"The whole team had a good match in my view," he said. "Above all, we're happy to have won because it's important to start well in these qualifiers."

A Ligue 1 champion with Montpellier last season, the Bangui-born central defender has already played 168 league matches for the club.

Despite appearing to have made a smooth transition to international football, Yanga-Mbiwa said he still had lots to learn.

"Being with the France team, it teaches me a lot of things and gives me even more desire to work hard at Montpellier," he said.

"I know that I shouldn't rely only on my skill. I want to improve as much as possible."
