Owen´s Stoke move approved

5 September 2012 18:04

Striker Michael Owen is officially a Stoke City player after having his registration confirmed by the English Premier League.

The 32-year-old was signed by Tony Pulis on Tuesday after being released by Manchester United in May.

Owen can now be a part of Stoke's 25-man Premier League squad after the move was approved on Wednesday.

Owen, who signed a one-year deal with Stoke, is in line to make his debut for Pulis' side after the international break against Manchester City on September 15.

"It's official! Deal done. I'm a Stoke player. Can't wait to get going," Owen posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

Owen is Stoke's seventh signing in the off-season after the arrivals of Jamie Ness, Geoff Cameron, Michael Kightly, Maurice Edu, Charlie Adam and Steven N'Zonzi.

"I'm delighted to have signed for Stoke City," Owen told the club's website.

"We have been in talks for a while and it was a club I was always keen to join. I'm particularly excited at the prospect of working under Tony Pulis. He has assembled a great squad that I look forward to joining.

"I'm now looking forward to contributing as much as possible to the club and can't wait to play in front of a great set of supporters."
