Ronaldo unhappy at Real Madrid
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo admitted he was unhappy with the club after he refused to celebrate his goals in the win over Granada.
The Portuguese was the catalyst behind his side's first win of the new La Liga season on Sunday but his lack of elation on the back of two landmark strikes was the main talking point after the game, a storyline he developed on after full time.
"I'm sad because of a professional issue and the club know why. That's why I didn't celebrate the goals, because I'm not happy. The people (at the club) know why." he told reporters after the match.
"It's nothing to do with Iniesta (winning European player award). I won't talk about this any more and I will concentrate on Portugal for now. There are more important things (than this)."
"The people at the club know about this. I can't say any more."
Ronaldo wasn't the only one unhappy after the Granada clash, with manager Jose Mourinho also unable to crack a smile in his post-match interview.
Mourinho berated his team, saying there was a lack of intensity and commitment in their play.
"I didn't like the way the players performed," he said.
"They showed little ambition to raise the tempo and the intensity of the play was too slow, I didn't like it.
"I don't think we work on this area enough, compared to many other areas where the coaches work for hours and hours.
"So we need to put in more time and to improve our mentality. We have to be on top, it's not enough to just win. We are winning games, but we must show more desire in our play."
Mourinho added that new signing Luka Modric needs match fitness, but he is delighted to be reunited with Michael Essien after the midfielder joined on loan from Chelsea on Friday.
"He [Luka Modric] is not quite ready for us, but yes where he played today because as playmaker, he has time to recover with no defensive duties," Mourinho said.
"I thought he could play 45-60 minutes and it would be good for him. Now, we will see what happens with the team selection, and hopefully he will get more minutes because it would be good for him. He needs to improve his fitness, as he has not trained for a while. He needs minutes. He played well against Barcelona and got some minutes today as well."
