Crouch not drawn on England recall

1 October 2012 14:23

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch insists that he is not contemplating a return to the England team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Crouch, who has 22 goals in 42 international games, scored both goals as the Potters beat Swansea City on Saturday, with England manager Roy Hodgson to name his squad for the qualifiers against San Marino and Poland this month later this week.

The 31-year-old has scored five goals this season but his last appearance for his country was in November 2010.

For now, Crouch claims that he is interested only in continuining to enjoy his football at the Britannia Stadium.

"Playing for my country is the best thing I have ever done but at the moment I just have to keep my head down and play well," Crouch told reporters.

"If that call comes then great. I'm playing and scoring goals and enjoying it. The fans have been great with me, as have the players. Long may that continue."

The Potters are 12th in the Premier League, having won one and drawn four of their six matches.
