Premier League preview: Swansea v West Brom

26 November 2012 09:33

West Bromwich Albion will be out to continue their remarkable start to the Premier League season at Swansea City on Wednesday.

The Hawthorns side, under fledgling manager Steve Clarke, are third on the table with eight wins and two draws from their 13 league games.

Clarke's men travel to the Liberty Stadium in search of their fifth straight win, having accounted for Southampton, Wigan Athletic, Chelsea and Sunderland.

Forward Shane Long believes West Brom can dare to dream of a European berth - a prospect that once would have been quickly dismissed by a club more used to relegation battles.

"It does cross your mind that could be us playing in Europe next year," he said. "You can dream, everyone can dream. We can dream that because we have put ourselves in a good position.

"If we carry on like this who knows what is possible? We will get to that 40-point mark, which is our first objective, and take it from there."

Long has been in excellent form, while the likes of Zoltan Gera and Romelu Lukaku have exceeded expectations in a team oozing confidence.

Swansea are unbeaten in four matches following Sunday's 0-0 stalemate with Liverpool and manager Michael Laudrup believes his side's Premier League push is gaining momentum.

"The clean sheet is good but I do not mind if it was 2-2," he said. "The most important thing was that we extended our momentum.

"Imagine if we could get a result on Wednesday? That would give us 20 points before December, which would be fantastic.

"When things are going right it gives the side a lot of confidence and we are seeing that."
