Brazil Serie A wrap: Vasco rally, Santos maintain run

18 November 2012 02:36

Vasco da Gama came from behind to beat Coritiba 2-1 on Saturday, while Santos emerged 2-0 winners at home to Figueirense.

Gaucho's team had to do it the hard way on Saturday after Lincoln gave hosts Coritiba a ninth-minute lead, but they were pegged back 13 minutes later.

Romario, making just his second appearance for Vasco, hit the back of the net for his first-ever goal for the club.

The scores remained level at half-time before Nilton struck the match-winning goal on the hour mark, ending Vasco's seven-game winless streak.

Vasco are seventh, four points adrift of the final Copa Libertadores qualifying spot with two games remaining.

Santos extended their unbeaten run at home to five games thanks to a 2-0 victory over relegated Figueirense.

The four-time Brazil Serie A champions were last beaten on home soil by Portuguesa almost two months ago.

Goals from Patricio Rodriguez and Felipe Anderson ensured Santos maintained that run.
