Mata praises Oscar, Hazard

11 November 2012 15:15

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata believes Oscar and Eden Hazard have helped his team become more watchable.

The Stamford Bridge side won the Champions League last season, while Roman Abramovich lavishly added to the squad in the off-season in a bid to ensure the London club can continue to compete for top honours.

And the Spanish playmaker feels the Russian owner's approach is paying dividends, with the likes of Oscar and Hazard allowing manager Roberto Di Matteo to play a more attractive brand of football.

"Every team has to play with the players they have" Mata told reporters. "Now we have Oscar and Hazard who play really well with the ball.

"They are able to keep the ball and to assist, and for us it is very good to play like this – this is how I prefer it."

Chelsea have recently stumbled with a home defeat to Manchester United followed by a draw away to Swansea City.

But after winning a thrilling Champions League encounter 3-2 against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek, Chelsea could close to within a point of league leaders Manchester United with a win against Liverpool on Sunday.

"We are really enjoying it. We are trying to play good football and, for me, it is the best way to win," Mata said.

"We are just trying to take advantage of our qualities offensively and defensively, and it's the best way to win games."
