Hughes frustrated by another missed chance

4 November 2012 22:04

Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes was left disappointed with his side after their 1-1 draw against Reading at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Djibril Cisse's goal just after the hour cancelled out Kaspars Gorkss's first-half opener to ensure the home side escaped the game with a point.

But despite a much-improved second half display, Hughes was frustrated with the result which leaves QPR winless after 10 games.

"We are disappointed as it is a home game and we wanted to take maximum points and once again we haven't been able to do that but in terms of (the) second half it was much better but (in the) first half we found it more difficult," he said.

"First half we were too passive, certainly in the initial period we could not get out and get our foot on the ball and play the type of game we wanted to.

"Credit to us (in the) second half we made a much better game of it, in terms of being brave in possession, getting on the ball and really driving the game to Reading.

"We are in a situation that nobody anticipated and we are working exceptionally hard. It is a difficult period - difficult games - that will change, the key to it is the first (win) then things will settle down and we can play our football."

In contrast, Reading manager Brian McDermott was satisfied with the draw after his side bounced back from their tough 7-5 loss to Arsenal in the Capital One Cup midweek.

"You can analyse that game to death but I know what happened and some of the performances in the first half (against Arsenal) were fantastic and that was the team virtually I put out," he said.

"But the performance today was a really good away-from-home performance. I thought we were excellent at times, we really dug in and this is never an easy place to come, Everton have got a draw here, Chelsea have got a draw and we take a draw today.

"They have good players here, we have to move on and we are playing at home next and we look forward to it."
