Mourinho: Ronaldo could leave Real Madrid

2 November 2012 22:33

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has suggested he would be fine with star Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports on Friday suggested the big-spending Ligue 1 giants were ready to make a huge bid for the Portugal international before PSG played down the speculation.

Mourinho said no player was bigger than the club and he could see his Real side without several of their current members.

"I can imagine a Real Madrid without any one of us," he told reporters.

"If Real Madrid belongs to any player or any manager it would be bad and it wouldn't be the club it is. Real Madrid is the sum of the parts."

Real Madrid have made a slow start to their La Liga campaign, sitting fourth and eight points adrift of league-leading rivals Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Mourinho said he was unhappy with the few minutes midfielder Jose Rodriguez was being given at Castilla – Real Madrid's reserve team – by coach Alberto Toril.

The 17-year-old starlet has appeared six times so far this season before he was called up for the first time by Mourinho to play in Real's 4-1 win over CD Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

"Jose Rodriguez, who you like so much, doesn't get a game for Castilla, while others do despite being 24 years old. It's really sad," Mourinho said ahead of his team's clash against Real Zaragoza.

"I have my autonomy and Toril has his. I do what I want with the first team and he does what he wants with the second string. I have an opinion, and my opinion isn't going to change."

Mourinho said his team needed to learn to win ugly if they were to stay in the title race this season.

"The key to winning the match? Playing well," he said.

"Other teams win even when they don't have a good game, but that's not the case for Madrid."
