Bin Hammam loses appeal

1 November 2012 17:04

Former FIFA presidential candidate Mohammed Bin Hammam has had his appeal thrown out by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Qatari has already had his life-long ban from the game overturned earlier this year, but world football's governing body imposed another suspension on him and opened a new investigation into his actions.

Bin Hamman had appealed against the ruling in mid-October, but was ultimately unsuccessful, and FIFA confirmed that he will remain suspended for the foreseeable future.

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected the request for provisional and conservatory measures lodged by Mohammed Bin Hammam against the decision pronounced by the FIFA Appeal Committee on August 17 2012," a statement read.

The allegations saw Bin Hammam's candidacy for the 2011 presidential election withdrawn, and Sepp Blatter ran unopposed to retain his position.
