Stade Malien sack coach

29 May 2012 18:20

Stade Malien sacked their Ghanaian coach Abdul Razak Karim on Tuesday after an executive meeting with the club’s officials in Bamako.

The management said it was cutting ties with the 56-year-old former midfielder and 1978 African Footballer of the Year because of disappointing results in the domestic league and the CAF Champions League.

"The executive committee of the Stade Malien has decided to put an end to the working contract of coach Abdul Razak Karim," a club statement said.

"No ultimatum was issued to the Ghanaian coach but the club has realised that its collaboration with Razak has not be moving in the right direction."

Stade Malien were knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Egypt’s Al Ahly on a 3-2 aggregate.

The club drifted away from rivals and leaders of the domestic league Djoliba following their loss to COB at the weekend.
