Caio wary of Saudi challenge

22 May 2012 09:58

Al Jazira coach Caio Junior has labelled Tuesday's AFC Champions League home clash with Saudi Arabia's Al Ahli as the 'biggest of the season'.

The 2010-11 UAE champions topped Group A with five wins from six games to end years of continental pain and qualify for the knockout phase. However, their Brazilian coach is desperate to go further.

"The match is the most important this season as winning against Al Ahli means that we will qualify to the quarter-finals and get closer to the final four of the competition," Caio Junior told reporters.

"I have great confidence in my players who will go into the game with big spirits. We have given our key players some rest in the previous match against Al Rayyan and hopefully the players can give their best against Al Ahli."

Meanwhile, Al Ahli coach Karel Jarolim said his side had put on hold celebrations following Friday's Champions Cup triumph as they focus on booking their spot for the quarter-finals.

"The match against Al Jazira is important for us and we have asked the players to focus on this game and forget the celebrations of winning the King's Cup recently," the Czech coach said.

"We have a new match and we must put a lot of effort in it. The match is very hard for the two teams and hopefully we can give our best in this game.

"The players that we have are good but they must have a good performance and get a good result to please our big fans."
